Art of the Lesser Sunda Islands

One copy of booklet that contains photographs taken by Bill McLennan. The book was donated by it's author, Laurence A.G. Moss. Moss was a visiting curatorial fellow at MOA (under Marjorie Halpin) in the mid-1980s. During that time, Bill assisted Moss in taking photographs that ended up in this book and associated exhibition.

Teh full title of the book is Art of Lesser Sunda Islands: A Cultural Resource at Risk. The book contains 13 photographs by McLennan

Argillite [project]

Subseries contains of one file consisting of images of two argillite sculptures at the MOA, UBC. These images were taken by McLennan while working with a student on a project related to masking the scale of the object. McLennan called it “Unravelling Scalability.”

Anth 432 and Anth 431

Sub-series consists of textual records including articles, student papers, and photographs accumulated in order to create a source book for Anthropology 432 taught by Dr. Halpin. It also consists of course outlines and bibliographies for Anthropology 431, which was also taught by Dr. Halpin.

Anth. 302 – Anthropology of South Asia – Student Exhibit

Subseries consists of records used in the creation of the student exhibit “Spotlight on India.” In the summer of 1996, students in Anthropology 302 mounted an exhibition at Museum of Anthropology highlighting South Asian religion and culture. Skooker Broome assisted students with the design aspects of the exhibit. Records include articles.

Anspayaxw

Sub-series consists of records relating to the exhibit Anspayaxw: An installation for voice, image, and sound. This exhibit was at the Satellite Gallery in 2013. The Satellite Gallery was an experimental exhibition space shared between Charles H. Scott Gallery (ECUAD), the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery (UBC), the Museum of Anthropology (UBC), and the Presentation House Gallery. The gallery is closed as of June 2015.

Anonymous beauty

This subseries contains images shown in the exhibit <i>Anonymous Beauty</i> curated by Miriam Clavir. This exhibit was on the Japanese handmade paper collection housed at MOA. In addition are 4 transparencies of the exhibit text.

Annie Ross: “Forest One”

This sub-series contains records relating to the display at MOA of Annie Ross’s work, “Forest One,” which was exhibited at MOA from March 20th until May 27th 2012. The sub-series includes correspondence, promotional materials, press clippings, and notes.

Ancient Cloth … Ancient Code?

Subseries consists of records relating to the exhibit Ancient Cloth …Ancient Code? It was coordinated by Elizabeth Johnson and curated by Mary Frame. It was installed at MOA from March 4 to May 24 of 1992. The exhibit focused on textiles from various ancient societies from present day Peru. Records include grant applications, budgets, memos, correspondence and photographs.
