This exhibition was created to celebrate the Museum’s 50th Anniversary; featuring works selected and commented upon by more than sixty people who have been associated with the Museum over its history.

Subseries consists of records relating to the exhibit “Exhibit A: Objects of Intrigue.” In 1999, the Museum of Anthropology celebrated its 50th anniversary. To mark this important milestone, the Museum opens “Exhibit A: Objects of Intrigue” in Gallery 5. This exhibit and accompanying publication “50/50 Fifty choices, Fifty Years,” highlights the museum’s diverse collections through objects selected by artists, staff, and friends connected to the museum over the years. This was the first exhibit to be designed entirely on computer. From the initial layout of components to the final production of exhibit labels and visual materials, the exhibit design was developed and managed electronically. Skooker Broome utilized the Mini-CAD program to plan for the exhibit design, layout, and fabrication of exhibit components. Records include: correspondence, design specifications, design notes, donor lists, computer renderings, drafts of computer layouts and designs for announcements, drafts and originals of computer layouts and designs, drafts and originals of computer layouts and designs for labels and didactic panels, artifact lists, exhibit object summaries, reports, object accessioning records, fundraising records, documents outlining the content and context of the exhibit, conservation documents, budgets, business cards, scholarly articles, contact lists, invoices, and phone lists.

Subseries consists of one file of correspondence and notes relating to a proposed exhibition of Peruvian artifacts in conjunction with the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board.

Subseries consists of one file of memos and notes relating to various undeveloped ideas for exhibition of material drawn from the museums textile collection.

Subseries consists of files providing documentation on loans received by the museum for exhibition purposes. Material includes borrower’s agreements, correspondence, ephemera, receipts for loans in, and lists of loans in (1956-1958).

Subseries consists of records related to Miriam Clavir’s involvement (which was primarily consultative and/or advisory) with exhibits and exhibition planning. Some records focus on conservation issues, while others include exhibit proposals and planning records. The exhibits include: “The Third Eye,” “Fluff and Feathers,” the “Coat of Many Colours,” “Ancient Cloth…Ancient Code,” “Multiplicity,” “Bob Boyer: A Blanket Statement and the “Open House Conservation Exhibit.” Other records relate to a paper loan from MOA to the Vancouver Paper Fair.

Also included in this subseries are funding proposals relating to two further exhibits (one of which Clavir was proposed to curate), as well as general exhibit information relating to an assessment of the Museum’s exhibits in the form of visitor studies.

The records in this subseries include: correspondence, memoranda, computer printouts (drafts) of exhibit proposals, committee meeting notes (on exhibit and public programming), budget summaries, conservation notes, brochures, packing & crate lists, artifact lists, photocopies of images taken of display items, exhibit planning notes, display drawings, contact sheets (with images of display cases and artifacts), case labels, and visitor study reports.

Subseries consists of images of various items from the Chinese Cultural Centre exhibition.

Sub-Series relates to Ratner’s participation in the museums exhibits committee

Sub-series consists of textual records including correspondence, site plans, reports, and polaroid photographs of the model building expansion of the Museum of Anthropology by Arthur Erickson.

Subseries contains textual and photographic records of the Pakistan Pavilion at the 1986 World Expedition held in Vancouver, better known as Expo ‘86. McLennan contributed to the design, content and installation of this exhibit.
