Custodial history
Materials in the collection were originally accumulated by Gisela Mendel, former curator of the Kitimat Museum, and given to John Kelson, Kitimat resident and fisheries biologist. It is unclear from where they originated prior to their collection, however it appears that they were intended to be passed on to the linguist Emmon Bach. These materials were donated by John Kelson to MOA's archives, digitized, and the originals have been given to the Kitimat Museum & Archives. MOA only retains the digital surrogates.
