Item is an audio recording of Mrs. Marget Siwallace providing Nuxalk translations of words to an interviewer, Randy Bouchard as part of the How to Write the Haida Language project. According to the recording, Mrs. Marget Siwallace, age 62, was formerly of Kimsquit and at the time of the recording was living in Bella Coola. She is featured in the book Bella Coola: Life in the Heart of the Coast Mountains by Hans Granander. Randy Bouchard co-founded the BC Indian Language Project in 1968 (https://www.memorybc.ca/british-columbia-indian-language-project) and is the author of numerous books on First Nations subject matter.

File mainly contains information pertaining to the Northwest Coast Architecture project set up in Robson Square in 2002. The information includes copies of correspondence from McLennan to various stakeholders involved in the project, information about the longhouses and the families who lived in them, and photocopies of historical photographs. The photographs depict some historical photographs of longhouses as well as a model of the longhouse to be built for the project.

Fred Ryckman fonds

The fonds consists of records created by Ryckman during his tenure with the Department of Indian Affairs, primarily from the 1920s and 30s. The fonds includes contact sheets made as copies of photographs that remain in possession of Ryckman’s heirs. Records in the fonds take the form of notes and correspondence. Also included in records is a ledger which contains census information. The fonds also includes photocopies of newspaper articles relating to members of the First Nations whom Ryckman came into contact with as a result of his work as well as materials relating to Ryckman himself.
