Face and dots

Item is a close-up image of a rock with petroglyphs. According to annotations, image was taken by E. F. Meade. Original slide included number 30.

Face carving

Image depicts a human face, probably carved in wood. The image is cropped, but it appears that trees are growing behind this sculpture. This carving may be from Kitwanga, BC, as described by Read in his journal.

Fallen house post, Uchucklesaht

Image of an old bear house post at the Uchucklesaht village site on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. The post is now decaying on the ground.

Fallen totem pole

Image depicts a totem pole lying on the ground. Figures are difficult to identify, but the most prominent one is probably human. Read`s diary indicates that this photo was probably taken at either the Kitwanga or Kispiox village site in Gitxsan territory of the Skeena Valley..

Image is a group portrait of six people and a dog. The people appear to be indigenous, possibly Inuit people wearing traditional reindeer garments. The portrait takes place outdoors. In the background is a building. Printed on the verso is the photographer information with the inscription "PHOTOGRAPHIE VON J. M. JACOBSEN ST. PAULI Hackhell's Passage 2te Bernhardstrasse 25 HAMBURG Gesetzlich deponirt. Brevete (S. G. D. G.) Registered." Around the border of the verso is printed " Neuer Pferdemarkt 13. KARL HAGENBECK'S THIERPARK HAMBURG". Handwritten inscription in pencil reads "Family Eskimo Labrador".

Family from Nakwah, Labrador

Image is a group portrait that consists of three seated figures on stools on an elaborate tile floor. The figures appear to be wearing traditional fur garments of cultures of the Newfoundland and Labrador geographic area, possibly Inuit. Printed on the verso is the photographer information with the inscription "PHOTOGRAPHIE VON J. M. JACOBSEN ST. PAULI Hackhell's Passage 2te Bernhardstrasse 25 HAMBURG Gesetzlich deponirt. Brevete (S.
