YVR projects

Subseries consists of several files documenting a number of projects McLennan was part of at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) over several years. Files include publicity, correspondence, artists’ statements, photographs, artists’ renderings, the YVR Art Foundation and designs for YVR regarding the creation and installation of Northwest Coast art at the International Airport. Art pieces specifically mentioned include Bill Reid’s The Spirit of Haida Gwaii, the Jade Canoe, Susan Point’s Flight Spindle Whorl and Richard Hunt, Dempsey Bob and Robert Davidson’s pieces for the Supernatural World.

YVR photographs

File contains images of various different pieces of Northwest Coast artwork located at YVR. These artwork pieces include: the cedar crabs from the <i>Pacific Passage</i> installation; <i>Hetux, Thunderbird, the Keeper of the Sky</i> installation; the whaling canoe from the <i>Rainbow off the Beach</i> installation; the <i>Origins of Light</i> installation; the <i>The Supernatural Worlds: The Land, The Sea, The Sky</i> installation; and the <i> Musqueam Welcoming Area</i> installation, which includes several Salish weavings.

YVR design

File contains records pertaining to YVR's International Terminal expansion project and YVR's "Coastal Forest Thematics RFP: First Nations Artwork Project". Records pertaining to the expansion project include a project report by Architectura, which includes an introduction of the project, the project's schedule, budget, and thematic drawings. The Artwork Project reports contains the following information related to each specific art piece including an introduction, location of the artwork, the exhibit description, physical requirements and materials needed to create the installation.

YVR correspondence

File contains copies of correspondence both sent and received between Bill McLennan and YVR Airport regarding several different pieces of Northwest Coast Artworks to be displayed at the airport. Other records include correspondence between various Musqueam Band members and YVR airport, with McLennan being a copied recipient of these letters and/or memos.

File consists of images of scenery and people of the Nootka Sound area on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC.

Yuma Taru

File consists of materials realting to the work of artist Yuma Taru, which are postcards, an invitation to opening of exhibition "Rainbow and Dragonfly: Where the Atayal Clothing Meet the Paiwan Multi-colored Glass Beads" at the National Taiwan Museum and a brochure relating to that event, cards displaying images of objects from the National Taiwan Museum, and a pamphlet.
