(In)visible: The Spiritual World of Taiwan through Contemporary Art

This subseries consists of records of the exhibit (In)visible: The Spiritual World of Taiwan through Contemporary Art/形(無)形-台灣當代藝術的靈性世界 (November 20, 2015 – April 3, 2016).

Records include copes of the (In)visible Museum Note, materials from the artists involved in the (In)visible exhibition, and their contractual agreements to participate in the exhibition, media about the exhibition (advertisements, articles, reviews), and internal MOA documentation on the exhibition development (planning, programming, proposals, budgets, object list, research materials).

Records pertaining to the touchable exhibit for the visually handicapped

Sub-series consists of various labels and captions, final report, museum tour information, fundraising, as well as published materials and background information pertaining to the “Touchables” exhibit and a previous MoA exhibit for the blind. Colour slides depict a variety of Northwest Coast Indian objects. Sub-series also contains program assessment, publicity information and contracts.

Audio tapes and transcripts

Consists of tapes and transcripts used to form the text for Where the People Gather. The tapes contain a mix of recordings of Norman Tait teaching/directing the carving of the NEC pole and later poles, and more formal interviews between Jensen and the carvers involved in the projects of this time period.

Tsimshian-Gitxsan materials

Consists of Tsimshian language education materials produced by Margaret Seguin and Susan Marsden. The materials were used by Powell for research purposes during his work on the Gitxsan books.

Chinese Peasant Textiles Art: Kwantung and Szechuan Provinces

Subseries consists of records relating to the exhibit, “Chinese Peasant Textiles Art.” This exhibit was proposed by Elizabeth Johnson and carried out by students. Records include notes, excerpts from articles, visitor survey forms, handwritten notations, hand-drawn diagrams of display cases, proposals and budgets.
