Project records phase 1

Consists of correspondence, grant applications, and records of Phase 1 of the Shuswap project. Phase 1 covered the original contract to work with the community at Alkali Lake.

Project records phase 2

Consists of correspondence, grant proposals and applications, and other records relating to Phase 2 of the Shuswap project. Phase 2 includes all the records pertaining to the project after it expanded to include the communities of Soda Creek, Dog Creek, Canim Lake and Sugar Cane.

Proposals

Sub-series consists of textual records accumulated during research and proposals for exhibits by Dr. Halpin and students. Records include NWC Mechanical Masks and Puppetry, Great Canoes: The Photographs of David Neel, and J. Shadbolt and Northwest Coast Indian Art. Research files include planning and grant applications for the Diesing exhibit and West Coast Screens.

Proud to be Musqueam: Dedicated to Our Children

Subseries consists of records relating to the exhibit "Proud to be Musqueam: Dedicated to Our Children." The exhibit was coordinated by Lizanne Fisher and Elizabeth Johnson. It was installed at MOA in 1989; a travelling version was later created. Subseries includes agreements, Anthropology 341 course outline, brochures, correspondence, exhibit labels, funding proposal, memos, notes, permission forms, phone message, articles from conferences, newspapers and professional journals, and a student paper.

Subseries consist of records relating to inquires made by individuals and families who are the hereditary owners of items which are now in the museums collection. Records include correspondence and notes.

Public relations

Subseries consists of material pertaining to the museum’s interactions with the media during Hawthorn’s tenure. Records in this subseries consist of newspaper articles, museum, press releases, ephemera and memoranda.

Publications

Consists of publications on the Quileute by Jensen and Powell. Includes copies of all the Quileute language phrase books called “Big Books,” as well as articles and other writings done on the Quileute.

Publications and research material

Consists of notes and copies related to two publications: By Punt to Kitlope (curriculum booklet 2006; copy of final publication is not available); two copies of the Haisla Unity Feast Book, called Our Lands, Nuyem and Stories (2005); 160 km of Haisla History: Guidebook for a visit to the Kitlope; and Our Nuyem Says… (a school curriculum).

Quilting in East Asia

Subseries consists of records relating to an exhibit at MOA. This exhibit was planned to coincide with the Quilt Canada conference, 1989. Subseries includes correspondence, labels, memos and notes.
